Strength in unity – Story in English

An old father lived with his three sons. The three sons were very hardworking but kept quarreling among themselves. One day the father called all the children. The father asked his elder son to break the bundle of woods. The son was very strong. Even with all his strength, he failed to break it.

In turn, other sons also tried their best but all failed. Now the father opened the bundle and asked them to pick up each wood. All the sons picked up one wood each from the bundle. The father said to the sons, “Break them. Everyone broke their wood very easily and looked at the father in surprise.

Smiling, the father said, “After my death, you all should be gathered together like this bundle. Never fight among themselves. To maintain unity. No power will break you. If you separate, you will break immediately like that wood. The sons understood the point and promised to live together with love.

Moral of the story:

This bundle of sticks story teaches us that there is a lot of strength in unity. When we are united, no one can stop us.
