The Princess and the Pea

The Princess and the Pea

Once upon a time, there was a prince who wanted to marry a princess. He traveled all over the world, but he could not find a real princess. All the princesses he met were not as delicate and sensitive as he had hoped.

One night, there was a terrible storm. A young woman came to the prince’s castle, seeking shelter. She was soaked to the bone and shivering with cold. The prince invited her in and gave her dry clothes to wear.

The next morning, the prince’s mother asked the young woman how she had slept.

“I did not sleep well at all,” the young woman said. “There was something hard in my bed, and I could not get comfortable.”

The prince’s mother smiled. “I know what you are talking about,” she said. “I put a pea under the twenty mattresses on your bed. Only a real princess would be able to feel a pea through twenty mattresses.”

The young woman smiled back. “I am a real princess,” she said. “And I would be honored to be your son’s wife.”

The prince was overjoyed. He had finally found a real princess. The prince and the young woman were married, and they lived happily ever after.

Moral of the story:

A real princess is not defined by her title or her wealth. A real princess is someone who is kind, compassionate, and sensitive. She is someone who is always willing to help others.
