The Owl and the Grasshopper story
Once upon a time, in a lush forest, lived a wise old Owl and a carefree Grasshopper. The Owl, with her big, round eyes and soft feathers, spent her days sleeping in the hollow of an ancient oak tree. When the sun set and the moon rose, she would emerge from her slumber, her piercing gaze scanning the forest for her next meal.
On the other hand, the Grasshopper, with his long, springy legs and vibrant green body, hopped and danced through the forest, filling the air with his cheerful chirping. He loved to bask in the sun’s warmth and sing his heart out, not a care in the world.
One warm summer afternoon, as the Owl dozed peacefully in her tree, the Grasshopper happened to land nearby. Feeling particularly joyful, he began to sing his raspy song, his voice carrying through the forest.
The Owl, disturbed from her sleep, poked her head out of the tree hollow. “Hey, Grasshopper!” she called out. “Can’t you see I’m trying to sleep? Have some respect for your elders!”
The Grasshopper, known for his cheeky nature, replied, “Oh, come on, Owl! I have as much right to enjoy the forest as you do. Besides, my song is beautiful!”
The Owl, growing irritated, knew that arguing with the Grasshopper would be futile. She decided to try a different approach. “Well, Grasshopper,” she said, her voice suddenly sweet, “if I must stay awake, I might as well enjoy your singing. I have a bottle of nectar here, sent to me from the gods themselves. It’s said to make one’s voice even more melodious. Would you like to try it?”
The Grasshopper, flattered by the Owl’s words, eagerly hopped up to the Owl’s tree hollow. As he approached, the Owl’s eyes gleamed with mischief. In a swift move, she pounced on the unsuspecting Grasshopper and swallowed him whole.
Moral of the Owl and the Grasshopper story:
The moral of the story, my dear children, is that flattery should not blind you to the true intentions of others. Be wary of those who shower you with sweet words, for they may be hiding their true motives. Trust your instincts and protect yourself from those who seek to harm you.
