Aesop Children Story The Ass In The Lion's Skin

The Ass in the Lion’s Skin

Once upon a time, in a lush forest, lived a silly donkey named Ned. One day, while wandering through the woods, Ned stumbled upon a lion’s skin left behind by a hunter. Excited by the discovery, Ned decided to play a trick on the other animals.

He carefully put on the lion’s skin and hid behind a thicket. When he saw a group of animals passing by, he jumped out from his hiding spot, roaring loudly. The animals, terrified by the sight of a lion, ran away in fear.

Ned was thrilled. He felt like a mighty king, watching the animals scatter in panic. He continued his game, hiding and pouncing on unsuspecting creatures, enjoying their frightened reactions.

However, Ned’s triumph was short-lived. As he brayed loudly in delight, a clever fox named Foxy, who had been watching from a distance, realized the truth. Foxy approached Ned and said, “If you had kept quiet, you might have fooled us all. But your silly bray gave you away.”

Ned felt ashamed and embarrassed. He realized that his disguise could not hide his true identity. The animals, who had been fooled at first, now laughed at him for his foolishness.

Moral of the Ass in the Lion’s Skin story:

Appearances can be deceiving, but one’s true nature will always reveal itself. It’s important to be genuine and not try to be someone you’re not.
